In celebration of the 2021 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), the Department of Science and Technology-MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA) conducted a series of technology webinars for its stakeholders last November 23-26, 2021.
The four-day virtual celebration featured discussions on intellectual property for MSMEs, how SETUP 4.0 can help MSMEs in Industry 4.0, Century Learning Environmental Model (21st CLEM) and basics of robotics for the education sector, STI culture for local government units (LGUs), and coco flour production. The webinars showcased programs, services, technologies, and products of DOST and its partners.
“This is the second time that we celebrate this meaningful occasion virtually. This is also the continuation of our S&T celebration this year, which we started with technology forums and new project launchings last October 26-28,” Dr. Ma. Josefina P. Abilay, Regional Director of DOST-MIMAROPA, said in her opening message.

More than 450 attendees from the scientific community, academe, business and industry sectors, local government units, regional line agencies, national government agencies, and private sector participated in the activities.
Carrying the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hámon ng Panahon,” this is the second time the said weeklong science and technology (S&T) festivity was celebrated virtually due to the restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The forums organized by the DOST-MIMAROPA were part of the ancillary events held simultaneously across the country by different DOST agencies, institutions, and regional offices that ran from November 22-28.
“To our participants from the industry and business sectors, academe, LGUs, regional line agencies, and other sectors, we may see science as an ally to empower ourselves, our families, our communities, and the people we serve,” said Dr. Abilay.
